Deadline extended for first China Awards
Due to overwhelming interest, the deadline for submissions for Airfinance Journal’s inaugural China Awards has been extended to Friday 23 March. There will be no further extensions beyond this point, so please send in your submissions on or before this date to ensure they are considered by our judging panel. Thank you to everyone who has already made their submissions.
We believe the Chinese aviation finance market his now dynamic enough to merit its own dedicated awards, separate from our annual global Deals of the Year awards.
We are delighted to announce that the following senior aviation finance executives have agreed to form the judging panel for this year: Harvey Lau, former partner at Baker McKenzie’s Shanghai office (now retired); Peter Huijbers, chief executive officer of CALS Aviation Group; and Sandra Chen, managing director at Fontainburg Aviation Capital.
This will offer obvious independence and substance to the judging process. The judges will not vote in categories in which their current or former employers are nominated. The Editor's Deal of the Year award will be determined by Airfinance Journal.
Product award categories include:
Best domestic Chinese financing – Based on submissions, this award is for a transaction completed only with mainland Chinese parties.
Best cross-border airline or lessor financing by a Chinese financier – Based on submissions, this award is for deals involving a Chinese financier financing a non-Chinese airline.
Chinese lessor of the year – Our judging panel will choose the Chinese leasing company that made the biggest impact on the market in 2017.
Best new Chinese leasing entrant – In recent years, many new Chinese leasing companies have entered the market. Our judges will select the one that made the best overall progress and impact on the market in 2017.
Top-rated Chinese airline (based on The Airline Analyst data) – Using our powerful airline financials product, The Airline Analyst, we will award the top-rated airline in China.
Operating lease award (including SLB) – Based on submissions, this award goes to the most innovative operating lease transaction in the Chinese market.
Finance lease award – This award goes to the most innovative finance lease transaction in the Chinese market.
Asia Finance Editor’s Deal of the Year – This will be selected from the nominations for the above categories. The Asia Finance Editor’s Deal will be determined by Michael Allen.
Aviation Woman of the Year in China – This award recognises the female in the Chinese market who made the biggest impact on the aviation finance market in 2017.
Young person in Chinese aviation finance (35 years old or below on 31 December 2017) – This award recognises the person under 35 who made the biggest impact on the Chinese aviation finance market in 2017.
To qualify for entry, deals must have been closed and funded between 1 January and 31 December 2017. You may only submit each deal for one category; multiple entries of the same deal for different categories cannot be accepted.
