TUI is on its second round of shortlisting for its request for proposals (RFP) for approximately $800 million in financing for aircraft deliveries due to conclude by the end of 2018.
The aircraft in the RFP include nine Boeing 737 Max 8s and two 787-9s, which are understood to be 2018 deliveries.
The airline is looking at both commercial financing and sale and leasebacks to fund the aircraft.
One banker adds that there was an "enormous" response from global lenders and "around a dozen" lessors are in the second round shortlist. They add that there likely to be a similar number of banks in the second round shortlist for commercial financing.
